The Informal Organization

Interactions among groups of people always entails more than initially meets the eyes and ears. Individual egos and insecurities create the fun of interpersonal dynamics. Yes, people are people, but two stabilizers of the informal organization, EXPERTISE and AUTHORITY, no longer perform as they once did. Solving multi-faceted problems, with implications for profit, people and planet, demands diverse perspectives and differing expertise. Authority no longer mixes well with generational differences (if it ever did!).

How people communicate and engage one another forms the informal organization. Alignment at this level can enable value-creating collaboration. Misalignment breeds cynicism that poisons any culture.

I am obsessed with making good decisions easier. My area of interest is situations that required collaboration. I work with people and organizations to clarify priorities and enable collaboration on different levels.
