Chris Irwin
Chris Irwin’s background includes working throughout Japan and across Canada, as well as roles in large corporations (e.g. Disney), and entrepreneurial ventures. He has worked in both for- and not-for-profit sectors. His experience covers sales and marketing functions, as well as service delivery and volunteer work. He brings value by drawing on his diverse experience to provide insight to current and go-forward issues and challenges.
Through formal education and through work experience, Chris has developed the ability to quickly relate to the individual and business issues in a range of situations. He brings the following skills to client engagement:
1 – Training and Education
His formal education includes undergraduate and graduate studies in Business (McGill University and Schulich School of Business). He has guest lectured at both of his Alma Maters and will teach Negotiations in Schulich’s MBA program in Fall and Winter 2008/9. He has a depth of experience training and coaching in diverse situations, including building skills in cross-cultural communications, negotiations and strategic stakeholder outreach.
2 – Consulting and Facilitation
Working with clients in technology, health care and media, Chris is skilled at identifying key issues and bringing relevant solutions. His natural curiosity and wide experience base enable for creative approaches to multi-dimensional issues.
3 – Language and Culture
Chris speaks French and Japanese. He has lived in both French- and English-speaking environments, and spent seven years living and working in Japan. He is comfortable in new environments, and sensitive to subtleties in national, regional and corporate culture.
Through Micro Organizational Behaviour (www.microob.com), Chris brings value in enabling effective communications to sectors that are undergoing change. His clients include hospitals and health care agencies. He helps to reduce interpersonal noise in organizations facing challenges from globalization, technology communications and workforce diversity, including generational differences.
ADDENDUM: WHICH “CHRIS IRWIN” IS THIS?
There are a number of Chris Irwin’s on the web. For clarity, I do not:
- Whisper to horses;
- Golf professionally (yet);
- Pilot aircraft; or
- Specialize in Mac tech.
A comprehensive scour of the web will however generate some additional content from this Chris Irwin:
1 - Articles in the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council newsletters (an example);
2 - Guest lecturing sessions at Schulich Business School (grad and undergrad; see What Others Are Saying);
3 - A workshop at the 2008 Apex Conference (see What Others Are Saying);
4 - A film review for “Owning Mahowny” (circa 2003)
